Free Income Tax Assistance
Inland Empire United Way is working with Cal State San
Bernardino, Cal Poly Pomona and Union Bank of California to offer
FREE tax preparation for low-income taxpayers. Trained student
volunteers help prepare and file your taxes, and save you money
through tax credits such as Earned Income Tax Credit (also known
as EITC). Visit one of the following VITA locations in your area.
No appointment necessary. All adults on your return need to
be present to sign forms.
Remember the following material when you visit the VITA site to
have your taxes prepared:
- A Social Security card for each family member. There are NO exceptions to this rule.
- A valid California ID
- Voided bank check for automatic deposit (All taxes are filed electronically and can be directly deposited into your account.)
- A copy of last years return
- All items listed that apply to your family:
- W-2 forms for all jobs worked in 2006
- All 1099 forms for other income, if any
- Child care provider name, address, and tax ID number
- Any other tax-related documents you have received

Volunteers are trained to prepare basic Federal and
California resident tax return for low-income and elderly
taxpayers. Assistance is also available for those eligible for EITC, Education Credits, Dependent Care Credit and Child Tax
Credit. VITA volunteers are NOT able to prepare tax returns for
nonresidents, small business owners, owners of rental properties
or those filing married separately.
