mother with daughters“My interest in the 2-1-1 initiative is driven by my experience as CEO of the Inland Empire Health Plan (IEHP). IEHP was created in 1996 by Riverside and San Bernardino counties to serve as the Local Initiative HMO providing quality health care to the Medi-Cal population. IEHP currently serves over 290,000 Medi-Cal, Healthy Families, Healthy Kids and Commercial Members in the Inland Empire.

“Delivering health services to this population provides me with a unique perspective relative to gaps in the social safety net system. While much energy and resource is directed at creating and funding new services, our experience at IEHP has shown that the challenge is often finding appropriate services that already exist.

“2-1-1 is a proven social utility that will help make the entire network of health and human service providers more efficient and cost-effective.”

―Richard Bruno, CEO, Inland Empire Health Plan
